Beginning novelists are often confused about imagination and inspiration, unsure of the specific roles each one plays and unsure of how the two interrelate.

Managers often ask the question ‘How can I motivate my team?’ The problem is they look for a simple solution like a team building day, expecting it to work like magic. They think that somehow by waving a magic wand they will become motivated. Even if you get the world’s most respected motivation al speaker, it’s unlikely to achieve anything more than a short term high. It generally does not result in the team being more motivated to work together. Why…because if there is not a clear reason, a motif for the individuals in that team, nothing much will move them. The same goes for personal motivation. Many people go searching for the magic motivation formula instead of just being clear about their purpose or reason.

I believe the fact that the real motivation of people is not being understood well enough in this industry by the gurus is one of the main reasons why so many people join but are not successful in making the big bucks that can be made with the programme.

My friend left the table to visit the restroom, and I was left alone with my thoughts about our intense discussion. Had I really “heard” the message correctly in my own heart or mind? I thought I’d given my friend the product of real get inspired – the kind of Heaven-sent message I believe all of us have available to us all the time but are usually deaf to hearing – but had I, really? Had I given her a good idea, or a disastrous one? Would following my advice needlessly cost her a lot of money? Was hers a problem that would, as her other friends had suggested, be better solved by tough-mindedness than by extraordinary generosity?

In order to understand how the different types of motivation work we need to go over how the two minds are conditioned. There is a fundamental difference between the conscious mind and subconscious mind that is the basis for the 4 types of motivation.

I could feel a deep sense of connection with my beautiful surroundings. I was fully alive, awake to the present moment. My mind wasn’t thinking about the past or the future but tuned in to the ‘here-and-now’.

The next time you hear the word “work” and it comes with a negative meaning, find a positive motivation. I’m betting that the task at hand will seem less “work-like”. And share that motivation with as many people as you can. Like a boomerang, it will come back to you (I guess, I’ve never actually thrown a boomerang but for the sake of this article let’s go with it.). The more lives you effect in a positive way, the stronger the boomerang effect will be.
